Kazu Wakita, a modern oil painter as well as a director of the museum, passed away at age of 97 last year on November 26.
This year, the museum holds a posthumous exhibition of his works so that many people have a chance to take a look at his works. During the exhibition, about 100 works are exhibited including not only his mainstream works of oil paintings created early in his career, but also engraving, mixed media, collage, etc. which were not exhibited before. (Some works exhibited during the exhibition will be exchanged). We plan to keep the studio of the artist who never ceases to paint wholeheartedly as the way he worked, which will be maintained, preserved and accessible from now on. The museum also plans events such as "MUSIC IN MUSEUM" to enjoy art and music this summer, and architecture workshop (including opening the studio to public) in the fall. Please access our home page http://www.wakita-museum.com for details.

Time flies. Art is hard to pursue. I was not able to ride on time as I wanted,
I think that the world of painting still opens the door to the future and welcomes me.
